I was not present on the scheduled presentation day. However I feel that my classmates did I really good job because every time we have a group discussion they present topics or ideas I would have not thought about orgininally. They tend to present abstract ideas about subjects I would have not considered originally also they have information or know of certian events, that I did not know about before hand.
I liked Allen's presentation, because I didn't know farming was that technical. Its cool to see how advanced the combines can get and its awesome the machines can be smart enough to tell where to lay more/less seed. I learned that there is a 201' TV which would be exciting to see. Also that TVs may be holographic one day. Another cool thing I learned is that combines can make turns for you.
My favorite presentation would have to be the farming in technology. I learned a lot from it. I did not know anything about farming. I thought it was cool that a tractor could make it own moves by a GPS sort of thing. I found it interesting that if the machine noticed that there was less fertile soil that it would then spray or put down more fertilizer in the spots. From this advancement I think that more farmers are going to upgrade and the things that were once big in this industry are going to not be as important. I think it is cool that John Deer doesn't just make tractors or machinery they are also trying to help out in others way like bettering the technology to make farming easier.
my favorite presentation was the one did on farming and technology. I did not realize how technology could be so involved in presentations. During the presentations I learned the evolution of the TV. Also I learned how touch screen computers have been around for a long time , just they were not popular.
I thought Tonys presentation was very good. I thought touch screens were a relatively new invention but as he had said they have been around a long time. 1. I learned that touch screens were not a recent invention. 2. Learned where the technology in touchscreens is going and where it will likely be in upcoming years. 3. I learned the perks and downsides of online dating. 4. I learned the different types of TV's and how each works and what has the best picture. I learned that the first TV was not electric but mechanical.
I've only seen two presentations. However, I guess my favorite would be Jordan, Jonathan and Tre's. Simply because I know tvs better then I know farming. I learned that TV's weren't invented by one man specifically but the Father of Television is Vladimir Zworykin. I also learned there are six different types of TV screens available. I had heard of all 6 of these but I never really thought about. I did not know that we use electronic tvs today.. or that the period before 1935 was called the Mechanical Televison Era. I would have guessed that time was considered the Swing Era, seeing that music was just being introduced in the Jazz form. Pretty neat just to see how far technology is coming along just over years.
Which presentation was my favorite? well that is a tough question, they were all good but i would have to say the technology in farming caught my eye the most. My reasoning for that is that; it shows us today how much technology has affected us. I mean look at how fields were planted and combined in the 1920's+ till today. There is a huge dramatic change. Technology does play a major role on how fields are planted and taken care of today vs. "back in the day". What were five interesting tings that i learned from the presentation were; 1. wide variety that was chosen for the presentations to be based around technology, 2. different types of handouts that were given to us "listeners", 3. there are more than 1 way to present the project( not by using the computer) along with the change of technology there are different ways to present a presentation to listeners, 4. everyone has a different design that they feel comfortable with, ( themes that were used for the presentations) and finally number 5. we are all affected by all the technology advances and changes . whether its for farming or home/self intertainment.
I thought Al's presentation was very good. I'm interested in farming and I think it is very cool he chose a topic that is so big in the Williston community. It is crazy that farm equipment will soon be run by computers. This will make the hard life of a farmer a little easier. I think everybody in the class did a great job.
my favorite presentation was the touch screen computers. i learned that there are ways to turn any surface into touch screen. another thing i learned was that farmers don't really have to do any work anymore, everything is monitored . and also that the biggest TV is 201 inches. and the last thing that was interesting to me was that TVs will be holograms in the future.
By reading everyones comments, I really wish I could have been here for Thursday's presentation to see the most popular Farming and Technology that Allen presented. But since I was only here Tuesday, I would say my favorite was the Online Dating one that Meg and Colby presented because it was so close to mine. It was interesting to find out who created the most popular dating websites. I learned more about online dating scares. They had a good handout that was more like a quiz which was fun. Another thing I learned is that there are many different styles of online dating for every kind of people, for example: farmers, white people, christians, etc.
