No pun intended but today's post centers around an article about a 'smart fork' designed to help people loose weight. It seems a tad ridiculous but it is not mystery that people will try just about anything to rid themselves of a few pounds. What do you think of this technology? Find an article on a technology advance you feel is somewhat far fetched. Post the link to the article as well as a brief explanation of the technology and your thoughts on the impact of the invention on society.

I think its pretty funny that people would pay 99 bucks for a fork. Really, you cant cant control your eating habits so you buy a fork that will tell you to stop eating. Why not set goals for yourself, or have a friend/family member remind you to slow down or eat less.
ReplyDeletePaddle shifters in automatic cars I think are fun but pretty pointless. If you want to drive an automatic whether because you like it or because if you do it right it saves gas, then buy a car that is automatic. For people who don't know when or how to shift with these paddle shifters, like my mom can rev the engine and cause stress on it, or just blow the engine.

i think the paddle shifters could be really cool for someone who is disabled, ya know?
DeleteI think this fork has a great idea in mind, but I myself am a fast eater from years of being in the service. We had a mess hall that could seat 80-90 people and a crew of 450. You got food, ate, and then left; these habits carry over to my lifestyle today. However I don't consider myself overweight just because I eat fast. It hasn't helped other parts of my health and well being but I still have a moderately active lifestyle and I eat healthy and well balanced meals. A fork that only tells you to eat slower cannot replace anything like that. I think this is nothing more than an expensive utensil used a gimmick to get people to think they are losing weight. Nothing will compare to healthy diet and exercise.
ReplyDeleteThis doesn't really fall into the realm of technology of weight loss or even advancement of computers, but as a society. I understand it took a lot of work, patience, time, and equipment to put the product together but honestly; Pajama Jeans look ridiculous. They are exactly what the first word says: pajamas. I'll admit I've gone out in public in pajamas and I'm not ashamed of it. Yes I've gotten some weird looks from people who judge, but I'd love for them to find a time they have not done or even thought the same thing. The difference with this is now you are trying to hide that you want to relax and be lazy...and there is nothing wrong with that. However I'm waiting for the day that people try to start passing these off at work as if they are real jeans and then look not only insane but get in trouble for violating a company dress code.

leggings are pretty much the same thing, girls wear leggings ALL the time now and they are not jeans and half the time theyre so tight theyre pretty much see thru. But girls will argue that they're "comfortable".. i think its girls being lazy and wanting the attention. lol.

ReplyDeleteI actually think the smart fork is a good idea. I am one of those people who has always shoveled food in as fast as I can, which is kind of a habit more than anything. I think if I did try this technology it would help me get rid of the habit. One ridiculous new technology I found is called the Poor Little Fish Tank. What it is is a fish bowl, that doubles as a faucet for washing hands. The trick of it is, is that whenever you're washing your hands, the fish's water decreases. The water for the fish will eventually refill itself, never getting to low for the fish to live. The purpose is to encourage people to use less water in order to allow your pet fish to live. I think this is definitely a witty invention but I can't see this technology being very popular in the near future. Maybe for some environmental conservatives, but not for the average person. I also think it's kind of weird using water from a fish's bowl to wash your hands haha.

I think the new 'smart fork' is a little far fetched but it could work for some individuals. People are always trying to find the new thing, this may or may not be it. On this sight there are a few silly inventions. The bluetooth gloves-they are gloves that connect to your phone bluetooth so you can hold your hand up to your ear without taking you gloves off. There is a speaker in the pinkie and thumb. I think this is really odd and it would be weird walking around and seeing someone holding up that hand to there face like its a fake phone. This is just a unnecessary invention. We already have the bluetooth where you need no hands so why use one hand. Another far fetched invention is the hover craft golf cart. It is like a boat so you can go through water. I just think it is far fetched because why not just drive around it? It is expensive as well so i see no point.

I think what you had stated in blog was true, people will try almost anything to lose a few pounds. I think this technology would take off just for that reason. People will try literally anything to lose a few pounds and I think this further proves that. It sounds like a pretty handy device to teach proper eating habits. I don't think I would every purchase it or try it out but I can see it becoming very popular.
ReplyDeleteThe technology that I found that I thought was somewhat far fetched was finger print purchasing. As of now it is only a prototype that is being made at South Dakota College. I think if this product became a reality it would be too dangerous. Someone could lift a finger print off of anything and make a mold of it and use that fingerprint to purchase whatever they want.

I think this "smart fork" technology advancement is a little to far out there. I can only imagine someone saying that they don't need to go to the gym because they bought the new "smart fork". Really? It just makes me think what in the world is this planet coming to. Yes this planet is starting to depend too much on technology.
ReplyDeleteI found an article that google has a new technology advancement. Google Glass, what is that? well Google glass contact is a form of a contact instead of wearing the glasses look alike. you will insert a contact lens that is somewhat like a chip and you can take do that same that you can with the glasses but with your actual eyeball. I personally think that it is a little bit of an overboard of technology use. If you wan to know more information just fallow the link below.

There are many new ways that people are trying to shed a few pounds. As you said some of these new ways are a little far fetched. People today will try just about anything just to lose a few. The new fork is kind of good idea to try and get people to eat the proper portions. I don't think I would ever try out any of these new devices but they may work some people.
ReplyDeleteThe device or product I found is difficult for me to believe. The weight loss product I found was called "Weight loss makeup". The specific type is lip gloss that is supposed to help lose weight. It contains an appetite suppressant that is supposed to make the person using it feel fuller than they actually are.

I think that is funny sometimes how far people will go now a days for health and fitness monitoring. and its not all that cheap for this fork. I can see a lot of people trying the fork out though it doesn't seem like that bad of a concept.
ReplyDeleteI found the remote head band. It was made because people lose there home remotes a lot so this person made a head band to stick it to so there could always know were it was.

I think the fork is very ridiculous. Its sad that people can lack self control and need a fork to tell them to slow down or stop eating. Im not saying im fit or a healthy eater but i don't think a fork would help me lose weight.
ReplyDeleteI found these cat ears that you wear on your head and it does stuff like the ears raise when your focused and they're down when you're relaxed.

I personally feel the smart fork would be a dumb investment. Why not just lost weight by going to the gym and eating healthier what ever had to that concept. Technology is amazing these days but I feel this a little extra.
ReplyDeleteI found this bite invention that will make athletes stonger and faster pretty outrageous.
