The Tornadoes in the Midwest was the topic I went with. I had already heard about them a lot because my cousin lives in Washington one of the towns that was said to hit the hardest. I had heard that her and her family was safe but have heard no updates on their house or anything else. At the time I had heard the house across the street from them was completely gone probably meaning that theirs is as well but sometimes mother nature works in odd ways. I think technology affected this greatly because I had heard within hours that it had hit their town. There are already numerous donation sites said up. Without technology there wouldn't be instantaneous updates such as how many tornadoes where at and the force of these tornadoes. Technology also helps warn people to try to get to a safe position to weather the storm.

One of the largest current events in technology and retail right now is the release of the PS4 by Sony. The console was released last week on the 15th, and has already sold over 1 million unites. Sony has released a statement that they have shipped more units for the release of the PS4 than they did during the first year of sales of the PS3, and surpassing the initial PS2 sales in Japan.
ReplyDeleteHowever nothing is without faults and a small number of PS4 consoles have been experiencing a "blue light of death" failure, similar to the system issue faced by the Xbox 360 during it's initial launch. Sony has said that they percentage of consoles that might suffer from this problem is roughly 0.4%, or 1/250. The article also stated that out of the approximate 1 million consoles sold, that is about 4,000 broken consoles. When put into numbers like that many are still calling this a very successful launch. Sony has already laid out potential fixes for the console, with an update patch expected in the next few months.
The biggest problem the company has faced is this is the first console launch since the widespread use of social media. That means when one of their consoles fails, it does so in a way that widespread and noticeable. Sony has done what they can to counteract this by asking users via Facebook and Twitter what they like most about their features. The console itself also plays into social media by allowing users to upload videos and pictures of their games to Facebook and Twitter, as well as do a live stream of their game to websites like Twitch and Ustream with more features coming soon.

my topic is tornados in the midwest. i found that there were some really bad tornados in the mid west over the past week killing a hand full of people and destroying neighborhoods including stores and churches. the weather was so bad that a bears football game was put on hold during the game for hours until the coast was clear from tornado warnings and heavy winds. schools were also closed due to weather and the safety for the students and parents. after the storm most of all community events were canceled and the red cross opened up a shelter for all the people that lost there homes or were injured in the storms. in all a total of 80 tornados hit the midwest.

my focus will be on articles for Black Friday. We all know its coming right around the corner. What ads can you trust? Different stores are starting there sales on different times some may have better discounts/deals. As of today there are different websites and catalogs that already have the listings out and the deals printed. but Black Friday sales also have to compete with Cyber Monday sales. which i think has affected Black Friday because a lot of people would rather sit at home and not have to deal with all the people and the bickering that Black Friday brings to the "pot". So in summing it all up Black Friday has been affected by technology because since internet and online shopping; people tend to do shopping on cyber monday rather than black friday.

This article is on ghost hunters and his technology used to hunt them. Instead of just trying to talk to them they have tools that are made or self made, fore example electromagnetic-field readers, voice recorders and even a gadget called a "ghost box" that supposedly allows paranormal beings to communicate via text messages on a cellphone-sized screen.

This article talk about the new PS4 and all the new technology is is bringing to the gaming world. The new system is affordable to compete with tablets and handheld devices. The device also has a new DVR black box which will allow owners to record things that they would like. The new PS4 will be competing with the Microsofts Xbox One. These companies like to come out with these new gaming systems around Christmas with hopes that is on every young kids wish list.
The topic I want to work on is Wal-Mart holding canned food drives to donate.
ReplyDeleteIn some towns, Wal-Mart has decided to hold canned food drives for it's own employees so they can enjoy a Thanksgiving meal. They ironic thing is, a lot of Wal-Mart employees will be working on Thanksgiving due to the craziness of Black Friday. Wal-Mart has been criticized for underpaying it's over 2 million employees. I guess technology influences this event because it's hard to believe that the largest food chain would have a hard time feeding its employees but the fact is they do. Maybe not in Williston, North Dakota where employees are paid very well at a starting rate but in other parts of the U.S. it's a completely different story. The next thing that Wal-mart could come up with is asking every customer if they want to donate a dollar to the "Wal-Mart Employees in Need Fund". I think the lack of technology is what has allowed these employees to be so underpaid that they would have to ask for help from the underpaid people that shop at Wal-Mart.

This is ridiculous... itleast they have a job and are able to work... Walmart is one of the biggest industries. Theres a walmart every where ive ever been in the united states. I don't understand why they are not able to pay their employees enough.
DeleteWith all the buzz about new gaming consoles coming out I thought this would be an appropriate topic to write about. Sony with the new PS4 and Microsoft with the Xbox One, being a poor college student I wont be purchasing either, but it is cool to see the technological advances in the games we play. And not only video games I've seen more interactive games that used to be board games now in hand held device or with some technology somehow put into the game to make it easier, or more exciting. coming out with a new game console is a big deal, because this is what people are going to use and consider the best the company has to offer.
ReplyDeleteI think the with the new release of the Xbox One will be surprised of how many costumers they lost to Sony with the release of Xbox one a few months after the PS4.

DeleteI choose to do mine on toddler napping with puppies. About a month ago a mom started to post pictures and a blog of her son and new puppy taking naps together. Most of the articles i read were just an update of new pictures and updates on how the mom, Jessica, is touched by how many people have responded to her blog. She also now has put a spot for donations on her blog for animal charritys.
