The last post!

Well I want to thank you all for your awesome work this semester, you have been a great class!

Today is our last day of class and we are going to do a short recap of the semester.  I want everyone to pick one topic or article we discussed in this class then gather information to give the class a 2 minute current update on the topic.  Post the information and summary to this blog.

Please remember hand in your papers by Thursday, December 19th at 11:30 AM.  If I am not in my office just slide them under my door!

Have a great Christmas holiday!

  1. I decided to recap the post about popular searches on the internet because I figured they have changed in the past couple months. It turns out the top ten searches for 2013 aren't very surprising to me at all. 1) Miley Cirus 2) Kim Kardashian 3) Kate Upton 4) Minecraft 5) Selena Gomez 6) Obamacare 7) Amanda Bynes 8) Jodi Arias 9) iPhone 5 10) Justin Bieber
I think the main reason there are so many celebreties on the top ten is because of the relatively new app called Vine, where you can make 6 second videos and look at other videos from all over the world. A lot of the videos I have seen on Vine make fun of celebrities including Kim K. and Miley Cyrus. People also use Vine for bashing things like the new iPhone 5 and Obamacare because they know these are trending topics and if they make something funny about it they will get a lot of views, which is basically the point of Vine. I think media like Vine and Facebook definitely take it's toll on the popularity of things and can either make people like something or make people hate it.

    1. That's funny how you did this one too, however you did the yearly one and I just "googled" the top trends of today. But I agree, those top ten aren't really surprising.

  2. I chose to do excercis equipment. the thing to hit the market are fuel bands they tell you everything that you do in a day for example steps you take and tracks your movement. it also compares your movement to other people that have bands as well so you can know were you stand and is also a watch.

  3. I wanted to give everyone an update on the top Google searches. The number one for today is Ethan Couch who is is a teenager that got into a car wreck because he was drunk driving and left four other people dead. The number two top search is the Mega Millions, number three is Demi Lovato, number four is Gisele Bündchen, number five is the Victoria Secrete Fashion Show, number six Uruguay, and number seven is the Lakers. Its neat how google has their trends very accessible to find and how they have a current update day-to-day.

    1. I agree on your comment when you said " its neat how google has their trends very accessible to find and how they have a current update day-to day". I think its unremarkable how much info Google holds. Could you imagine being in charge of popular and world wide known Web search Engine. Now Google is not just a search engine but also has email accounts and social networking site and a whole lot more advances.

  4. The top 10 most searched thing on Google in 2011 were
    1. Rebecca Black
    2. Google+
    3.Ryan Dunn
    4.Casey Anthony
    5.Battlefeild 3
    6. IPhone 5
    7.Adele
    8. something in Chinese
    9.Steve Jobs
    10.IPad2
I was surprised to see that Rebecca Black was at the top spot on the list, I knew her video Friday had gone viral and was known for how bad it was. I think I was just most surprised that if everyone hated the video, why it had been the most searched topic on google.
With the death of Steve Jobs there's no doubt why it wouldn't be on there, since he had done so much with technology.
I was surprised to see Casey Anthony because I had at least heard of everything I could understand, but never have heard his name.

  5. The topic I chose is "another sign technology effects everything." The topic showed how chains such blockbuster that many people grew up on are struggling due to the technology, that now allows for movies to be watched at home with online streaming and downloads. Things have not shown any sign of changing back to the old as yesterday the UK announced the blockbuster chain would shutdown completely. This also is affecting people financially as over 800 jobs have been lost in the decline of the chain. The United States still plan to close mostly all their blockbuster stores by January of next year.

  6. I decided to go further into the exercise technology. See what new things have came out since we last talked and if there has been any other advances in the area. While reading through articles i found that there are many new fitness gadgets out. One i thought that would be the most beneficiary to athletes was the production of a new device that people that play contact sports would wear. It was designed by reebok and meant to be wore like a skull cap under a helmet and registers head trauma. It has different lights on it that will be able to tell you how severe the hit was or if you got a concussion. Another advancement i saw was the ping putter cradle. its a device you put on your putter and attach your iphone and it becomes a device that monitors your swing and tells you how to improve it.

  7. The most interesting topic to me was how technology affects the Olympics. I never even thought about how much technology goes into making the Olympics be so successful. This year the Olympics team has improved in many areas like the fields, tracks, equipment as well as new things like the sosolimited eye. This new eye is going to gauge the mood of Great Britain through social media. If its yellow the tweets were happy if they were neutral the eye would turn green and finally if they were sad or mad it would turn purple. There are many new improvements in the Olympics and I am looking forward to the big games.

    2. I agree with you! I also never really knew a lot about the Olympics, and how much the technology advances the success rate for it as well.

  8. Don't Quite Your Job...but...
That post was the one that i remember the most. It was interesting to learn how young some of the most great entrepreneurs started and how they are still growing. We discussed this post back in October and in my comment for who stood out the most to me was Cameron Johnson. He created his own business by making and developed greeting cards and created websites for companies. There were a few of young entrepreneurs and it surprised me the ideas they had to come up with money to start their businesses and now they're all millionairs.
